Cooking Lessons

Today we had an official cooking lesson through Amideast.  However, the end result was simply Anna, Alaina, and me sitting in their kitchen learning how to cook from their host mom.  Even though we felt disappointed that the turn out of students was so low, we had fun with their family and Doha, our program director.  We prepared a chicken and potato tajine and a pepper and tomato salad.  While the tajine cooked we enjoyed homemade rife and chocolate chip cookies that Alaina had made the night before.  Over mint tea we talked about our experiences so far with Doha.  When our food was prepared we took it back to school to share with other students and employees of Amideast.  It seems our tajine was a success, and we came away from the experience now knowing that the secret flavor to Moroccan food is ginger and tumeric.
